Our Hemp seed wood oil is a penetrating oil that will nourish and protect wood surfaces. It’s also perfect for sealing Chalk and Milk paint. It dry’s to a matte finish to provide a water resistant layer.
It is a non-toxic, solvent-free, naturally drying oil cold pressed from Australian organically grown hemp seeds. It’s refined specifically for timber which means it does not rancid but is also completely safe to on items such chopping boards and wooden toys.
Raw timber – Apply hemp oil with a clean cloth chip brush. Let the oil penetrate for at least 15 minutes, wipe off any excess oil and then buff the surface with a clean cloth. Apply one to three coats, allowing two hours between coats. Reapply as required, several layers of hemp oil may need to be applied to achieve the desired finish.
Painted surfaces. Suitable for Mineral, Chalk and Milk paint. For a smooth buttery finish, use hemp seed wood oil together with fine grit sandpaper (600 grit) and sand lightly. Wipe away the access.
Depending on the surface and the thickness of the coat, it should be dry within 2-3 hours. It does take 3-4 weeks to fully cure, or to reach optimum durability.
Tip – Try wet sanding with hemp oil over painted surfaces, you will love how smooth and buttery it will feel. Pour a small amount on your surface lightly sand with 600 grit sandpaper, then wipe surface with a lint free rag or applicator pad. Works beautifully over dark colours and suitable for Chalk, Mineral and Milk Paints.

Hemp Oil is a deep green colour, but the colour will vary a bit between harvests. When first applied, Hemp Oil will deepen the colour of your finish but it will slowly lighten over time as the oil soaks in and cures.
